Charleston Networking

Around 6pm tonight, Anna Claire and I traveled downtown for a breezy evening of networking at the Seabreeze Hotel & Dock. I went to Johnson & Wales just down the street and never even knew this place existed. I think being 22 had something to do with it but I was very pleasantly surprised. We took a right off of East Bay Street onto Morrison Dr to find a short line of stopped traffic waiting for a slowly moving train. It honestly couldn’t make up its mind which way it wanted to go. Anna Claire and I were patient and both pulled out our phones to play our favorite games. I have been addicted to Angry Birds for a while now and AC was playing scrabble. We waited for 20 minutes or so I also found a Ninja Fruit game that is completely ridiculous but entertaining.
The train finally passed and along with 15 other waiting cars, we all made our way to the party on the dock. It was a stunning venue and the decor was beautiful. Event DRS and ICE Box, as well as all the other venders (listed at the end of this post) did a wonderful job . We talked with old friends as well as new ones and really enjoyed the evening. Mind you, it was quite windy so AC and I were so glad we had our coats in the 4Runner to keep us warm. Cru Catering served mac and cheese in these very cute dishes from Event DRS. It was good but I have to say that I felt sorry for the chef manning that station. It did not look like fun. The wind was just too much but she kept everything under control perfectly. The bartenders also had to fight the wind to keep everything in place and not only succeeded at that but gave service with a smile.
All in all, I can say that my experience to date with the Charleston Bridal Association is a positive one. I am able to meet so many new people as well as re-connect with old friend and co-workers. I have had so many people see the Savory logo on my shirt, stop me to tell me how much they love Savory Sushi.
Our friend and rep for Grapevine Distributors, Glenn, gave Anna Claire and I two preview tickets to the Charleston Wine and Food last week. Wearing the Savory shirt does wonders. I learn from my dad. He wears a Cox Industries shirt or hat almost every day which creates recognition. I know this works because as soon as we walked into the tasting tent, a lady working at the second booth calls over to us to tell us how much she and her friends love Savory Sushi. I can’t tell you how awesome that makes me feel inside. I totally light up inside which ignites a smile on my face from ear to ear. I’m sure my cheeks get a little rosy also. That is the feeling that adds the fuel to our fire here at Savory Sushi.
Thank you to all who support us and want to watch us grow.

This March Savory SC will be participating in the Water Missions International Charleston Walk for Water.
Every day millions of women and children in developing countries walk nearly 4-6 miles to retrieve water to meet their family’s daily needs. On average they carry 5 gallons of water which weighs 42 pounds. During the approximately 3.5 mile Walk for Water, I will have the opportunity to carry a bucket of water to symbolize that trek that so many people make each day to collect water in developing countries. I invite you to walk with me!
The Walk for Water will take place on March 19th, 2011. Registration opens at 9 am, and the Walk will begin at 10 am. It is followed by family-friendly activities.
Water Missions International is an engineering relief and development Christian nonprofit founded in 2001. Our mission is to provide sustainable safe water solutions to people in 40 developing countries and disaster victims worldwide. These safe water solutions bring immediate and lasting benefits in health, dignity, education, productivity, and income generation to some of the world’s most marginalized and forgotten people.
I hope you will consider joining me for this amazing event to make an impact in the global water crisis. If you can’t walk, you can visit my personal fundraising page if you would consider making a donation?
The next time you flush a toilet, get a sip of water, or take a shower please remember those who lack access to safe water and sanitation. We can be the difference for so many! Walk with me!

I want to thank Cheryl of Charleston PR, Mike of Blue Ray Print, Rhett, Steven, Anna Claire and all our kitchen crew for helping make our first bridal show a huge success. We had the best spot, at the end by the stage which we used to our advantage. We were rolling sushi on site as well as serving our famous Lowcountry Eggrolls and Caprese Skewers. We went through 10 gallons of Strawberry Lemonade, 800 pieces of Lowcountry Eggroll bites, 400 Caprese (Tomato, Basil and Fresh Mozzarella) Skewers and 800 pieces of sushi in 4 hours! Everyone was raving about the food. All in all, it was a great day and we got to put a lot of smiles on people’s faces.
We also had a drawing for two prizes and you can watch the drawing on this video.
